Many enthusiasts have learned the hard way that Jeep's engineers located the evaporative canister, a critical element in the Jeep Wrangler emissions system, in a precarious position under the vehicle's floorboard. Early Jeep Wrangler JKs had no protection at all for this plastic-bodied component, and while Jeep later added a rudimentary sheet metal cover, the canister remained vulnerable to trail damage.
